The Castle of Montcherand
The castle, situated on the Clunisian site of Montcherand, was built in 1790. It now offers a charming 5* guest house to visitors, as well as a hall that regularly hosts artistic exhibitions and cultural events.
Located in the centre of the small town of Montcherand, close to a magnificent Romanesque church decorated with figurative mural paintings from the twelfth century, the oldest in Switzerland, the castle has become essential for the region’s cultural life. Temporary exhibitions, operas and concerts are regularly presented in a welcoming atmosphere.
Being close to the route to Santiago de Compostela and to the Via Francigena, the castle offers beds for passing pilgrims, in addition to the well-appointed guest house with a fabulous view of the Alps.
